Army chief vows to combat mafias in unison with nation,
Provinces major beneficiary of Green Initiative, farmers & agri research to also benefit,
Islamabad(Mudassar Iqbal/Webdesk)_Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar on Friday said that agriculture held immense importance for socio-economic development of the country at the grassroot level.
The prime minister, addressing the National Farmer’s Convention as the chief guest, appreciated the collaborative work of ministries and departments for achieving various milestones under the umbrella of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and stressed the need to expedite various initiatives.
In an unprecedented address at the National Farmers’ Convention, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir vowed to combat mafias in unison with the nation, underlining the critical importance of national unity and progress.
Amidst swirling rumors and negative narratives circulating about Pakistan, General Asim Munir emphasized the nation’s resilience, invoking the founding principles that crafted two sovereign states – the State of Medina and Pakistan.
Addressing the crowd, he rallied against the proliferation of false information on social media platforms, asserting that such misinformation only undermines the state’s existence and stability.
Highlighting Pakistan’s vast wealth of natural resources—from glaciers, rivers, and mountains to fertile land boasting world-renowned produce like rice, mangoes, and oranges—the COAS reminded the audience of the country’s immense potential. Reflecting on Pakistan’s historic growth in the 1960s, he attributed the nation’s subsequent decline to a departure from Quaid-e-Azam’s principles of faith, unity, and discipline.
General Asim Munir, acknowledging agriculture and animal husbandry as time-honored professions, stressed their significance in building discipline, perseverance, and reaping substantial rewards. He reiterated the importance of refocusing efforts on agriculture, affirming the commitment to the Green Pakistan Initiative.
He emphasized that the majority of the initiative’s income would be directed to provinces, benefitting farmers and bolstering agricultural research. He reiterated the military’s sole role: to serve the people and the agricultural community.
As a step forward, the COAS unveiled plans for Agricultural Malls in every district, aiming to provide farmers with comprehensive access to agricultural amenities. These malls will facilitate easy access to agricultural loans, cold storage chains, climate-resistant seeds, and advanced livestock breeding practices.
