After 78-year wait, a village’s nights are finally bright.
A remote Indian village sees light after 78 years. Discover how electricity brings new hope and transforms lives for good.
India—(Special Correspondent/Web Desk) – After 78 years of waiting, a remote village in Maharashtra has finally been connected to the power grid. This historic moment ends decades of darkness and brings new hope for the future.
The residents of Varaswadi village celebrated with firecrackers and cheers. For the 15 families who live there, this electricity means much more than just light. It is the exciting start of a new chapter in their lives.
People in the village called it the biggest change they have ever seen. For the first time, their homes and streets were filled with bright, electric light.
The state electricity company spent over 5 million rupees on the project. They put up 67 electric poles and a new transformer to make sure the village gets a steady power supply. New streetlights were also installed, making the village safer to walk through at night.
Getting the work done was not easy. The project was approved two years ago but faced many delays. Officials said it was very hard to carry the heavy poles and transformer into the remote forest area without proper roads. Getting permission from the forest department also took a long time, which slowed down the project.

The moment the lights turned on was very emotional for the villagers. For years, they depended on kerosene lamps and firewood. Now, they can use fans, charge phones, and, most importantly, children can study after sunset. This new power supply promises to improve education, health, and work opportunities for everyone.
