AFL Pakistan Celebrates Independence Day with Thrilling Tournament

Islamabad-The Australian Football League (AFL) Pakistan celebrated Independence Day with a lively tournament at the Sports Complex in Islamabad. The event, attended by Australian High Commissioner Neil Hawkins and his wife, showcased the growing popularity of Australian football in Pakistan. The tournament culminated in the final matches of the AFL Pakistan league, with Pakistan White winning the women’s category and Boom Boom Swabi clinching the top spot in the men’s competition.

AFL Pakistan Secretary General Chaudhary Zulfiqar highlighted the organization’s progress and expressed pride in the league’s national development and international recognition. High Commissioner Neil Hawkins praised the teams, particularly the women’s squad, and expressed support for the sport’s development in Pakistan.

The tournament marked a significant milestone in AFL Pakistan’s journey, with final trials to be held for the Asia Cup in Vietnam and participation in the International Australian Football League Cup 2024 on the horizon. Head Coach Michael Gallus believes Pakistan has a genuine chance to clinch the trophy with dedication and hard work.
