Afghanistan Rejects Trump’s Remarks, Warns Against US Interference
Won't give even an inch of land to US: Afghan Taliban to Trump
Kabul – Afghanistan has strongly rejected recent remarks made by US President Donald Trump regarding the Bagram Air Base, issuing a clear warning to Washington against any interference in its internal affairs. Afghan officials emphasized that the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity are non-negotiable and that no foreign power will be allowed to deploy troops on Afghan soil.
In an official statement, the Afghan government reiterated that sovereignty has always been a red line in all bilateral negotiations with the United States. The statement stressed Afghanistan’s commitment to building positive relations with all countries based on mutual interests, Islamic principles, and an economy-driven foreign policy. Officials also reminded the US of its commitments under the Doha Agreement, which prohibits the use of force or threats against Afghanistan and forbids interference in the nation’s domestic affairs.
Deputy spokesman Hamdullah Fitrat reinforced this position through social media, calling on the US to honour its past commitments and avoid repeating the “failed experiences” of previous policies. He urged Washington to adopt a more realistic and wise approach if it seeks any form of engagement with Afghanistan.

Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi took a more forceful tone, stating unequivocally that the country will not concede even an inch of land to the United States. “Let alone Bagram Air Base, we will not give even an inch of land to the US,” Muttaqi declared. “We cannot allow any foreign army to come to our land. Even if the US recognises Afghanistan, we will not hand over an inch of territory.”
These statements come in response to a series of provocative remarks made by President Trump, who has publicly demanded that Afghanistan return the Bagram Air Base to the United States. In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump wrote, “If Afghanistan doesn’t give Bagram Airbase back to those that built it, the United States of America, BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN!!!” While the president did not specify what actions the US might take, the threat has drawn strong condemnation from Kabul.
Speaking alongside UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer earlier this week, Trump announced that his administration is “trying” to reclaim Bagram Airfield, criticizing former President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan and claiming the base should never have been abandoned.
The sharp exchange marks a significant escalation in tensions between the US and Afghanistan, with Kabul making it clear that it will not tolerate any attempts to undermine its sovereignty or territorial integrity.
