Pakistan Experts Stress Strategic Aerospace Investments for National Security and Economic Growth

Islamabad-The Centre for Aerospace & Security Studies (CASS) in Islamabad hosted a seminar, “Air and Space Technologies: Harnessing the Innovation Economy,” where experts emphasized the importance of strategic investments in aerospace innovations for Pakistan’s national security and economic growth ¹. Air Vice Marshal Nasser Wyne (Retd) highlighted the shift from air power to aerospace power, incorporating space exploration, satellite technology, and autonomous systems, presenting opportunities for nations to bypass traditional developmental barriers.

Air Marshal Zahid Mehmood (Retd) stressed the evolution of aerospace from a defense-centric industry to a key driver of economic growth and technological innovation. He emphasized the need for strategic investments, skilled human capital, and public-private partnerships to capitalize on technological advancements in satellite deployment, AI, and space exploration.

Dr. Najam Abbas Naqvi discussed the importance of satellite technology, earth observation, and global navigation systems in providing innovative solutions for sectors like agriculture, urban planning, and disaster management. He urged policymakers to incentivize private sector involvement and establish aerospace innovation clusters.

The seminar concluded with Air Marshal Javaid Ahmed (Retd) emphasizing the need to evaluate technology’s positive and negative aspects and harnessing Pakistan’s pockets of excellence in academia and among individuals for future progress.
