LAHORE: The funeral prayers for actress and model Humaira Asghar Ali were held on Friday in Model Town’s Q Block Graveyard, Lahore, following the discovery of her decomposed body in a Karachi apartment — nearly eight months after her untimely death.
Her brother confirmed that the body was flown from Karachi to Lahore and taken directly to the graveyard for burial, without being brought to the family home. The final rites were carried out in a somber atmosphere, marked by unanswered questions and deep sorrow.
Father Breaks Silence
Speaking briefly to reporters after the burial, Humaira’s father declined to comment on the post-mortem findings, stating it was too early. He also addressed and dismissed rumors about family estrangement, saying Humaira’s mother maintained a strong bond with her daughter.
He condemned speculative claims about the body being abandoned or neglected. “Such rumours are baseless,” he said. “The body could not be released without a proper medical examination. We are devastated, and we trust that Allah will bring justice to those responsible for her suffering.”
Disturbing Discovery in Karachi
Humaira’s remains were found under tragic circumstances when a court-appointed bailiff entered her Karachi flat to enforce an eviction over unpaid rent. Inside, authorities discovered a heavily decomposed body later confirmed to be hers — concealed behind locked doors and surrounded by decaying food, rusted utensils, and haunting silence.
According to police sources, electricity to the apartment had been disconnected in October 2024 due to unpaid bills. No emergency lighting or backup sources were found, suggesting she endured her final days in isolation and darkness.
Humaira’s last public appearance on social media was in late September 2024, with her last seen online on October 7. A post in February 2025 raised alarms about her disappearance, but it failed to trigger serious attention from the media or authorities — until her tragic discovery.
The circumstances of her death remain under investigation as the nation mourns the loss of a young talent whose final days were marked by obscurity and neglect.
