Islamabad: Pakistan Committed to Democratic Process. Foreign Office spokesperson reiterated the country’s unwavering dedication to fostering an inclusive democratic process in response to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights’ recent statement regarding the upcoming general elections.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch emphasized Pakistan’s firm commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding human rights and fundamental freedoms as enshrined in its laws and Constitution.
The statement comes in light of the OHCHR’s declaration on Tuesday, expressing concern over reported acts of violence against political parties and candidates and urging authorities to ensure the protection of fundamental freedoms essential for a meaningful democratic process.

Ahead of the elections, at least 24 incidents of violence targeting members of political parties have been reported, prompting international attention and calls for ensuring a peaceful and fair electoral environment.
