90,675 polling stations established countrywide on Feb 8

ECP’s active WhatsApp helpline ensures complaint registration, resolution

Islamabd(Mudasser Chuhdary)_According to the electoral watchdog’s data, a total of 90,675 polling stations have been established countrywide. Among these, 25,320 are designated for male voters, and 23,950 are earmarked for female voters. Additionally, 41,405 combined polling stations will be operational.

In the province of Punjab, approximately 50,944 polling stations will be set up, with 14,556 for men, 14,036 for women, and 22,352 combined polling stations. Similarly, in Sindh, 19,006 polling stations are planned, comprising 4,439 for men, 4,308 for women, and 10,259 combined polling stations.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will host around 15,697 polling stations, distributing 4,814 for men, 4,289 for women, and 6,594 combined polling stations. Meanwhile, Balochistan will have 5,028 polling stations catering to both male and female voters.

Moreover, the summary reveals that there will be 149,434 polling booths in Punjab, 65,005 in Sindh, 47,081 in KP, and 14,882 in Balochistan.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has taken a proactive step by introducing an active WhatsApp helpline, providing citizens with a platform to register and resolve their election-related complaints swiftly.
This initiative aims to enhance accessibility and responsiveness in addressing concerns leading up to the upcoming general elections in 2024.
Using this WhatsApp number, 0327 5050610 individuals, particularly those who are speech and hearing impaired, can submit their complaints via video.
The ECP has established the Election Monitoring and Complaint Centre (EMCC) to facilitate and address the voters’ grievances pertaining to the upcoming general elections 2024.
According to official sources, apart from WhatsApp, the complaints can be submitted through email at complaints@ecp.gov.pk, or the dedicated helpline 111-327-000.
The election watchdog has set up control rooms at its secretariat, as well as provincial, divisional, and district-level offices to handle the registration and resolution of complaints.
At this center, the public will have the opportunity to contact and register their election-related grievances. Trained staff has been appointed at the center to ensure prompt resolution of these issues.
The ECP urged people to promptly share footage of any code of conduct violations in their areas for swift response and resolution.
The control center also has social media and electronic media monitoring facility. Complaints can also be sent through fax number 051-9204403.
