PIC organized two day workshop on Business ,Economic Reporting

Islamabad: A two-day Training Workshop on Business and Economics Reporting under the aegis of Pakistan Information Center (PIC) began at Information Service Academy (ISA), Islamabad on Thursday.
In the opening session, well-known journalist Shahbaz Rana gave a presentation to the participants about fundamental principles of economics, micro and macroeconomics, economic security, central banks and monetary policy. Besides, economic indicators, current account deficit, factors that determine GDP, Gross National Product, imports and exports, remittances and investments were explained in detail. During his presentation, he highlighted the importance, sensitivity and authenticity of facts and data in economic reporting.
In the second session of the workshop, renowned journalist and senior anchor person Syed Talat Hussain briefed the participants about the role of Planning Commission, Finance Division, Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), State Bank of Pakistan, Pakistan Bureau of Statistics and Commerce Division. Talat Hussain underlined the importance of verification and authenticity of facts and figures. He explained about the role of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the formulation of financial policies.
A large number of economic reporters attended the training workshop. Both the speakers answered the questions of participants at the end of their sessions.
