8 member larger bench to hear on SC practice and procedures bill today

 Government starts working on Parliament Contempt Laws,

ISLAMABAD – Supreme Court will hear petitions against Supreme Court Practise and Procedure Bill 2023 today.

Chief Justice Supreme Court of Paskistan Umer Ata Bandial will lead the bench, both the sides will present their pleas in front of court today.

Attorney General, representatives of Pakistan bar and Supreme Court bar will also participate in the hearing. Previously, the SCP halted implementation of the bill on April 13,

Federal government has started working on to enhance Contempt of Parliament laws.

The standing committee for procedure and privileges has called a session for today. The committee Chairman Rana Qasim Noon will preside over the session.

17 points agenda for the session has also been issued in this regard. The standing committee will ponder upon the recommendation on Parliament’s contempt laws.

The committee has also summoned officials from the concerned ministries to discuss the contempt recommendation and their inculcation in laws.
