PTI chairman files petition in LHC against 121 cases
Lahore_Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan strongly condemned the arrest of senior party leader Ali Zaidi said that the under was made under London plan.
The former prime minister took to the Twitter to condemn the arrest and said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo and former premier was assured that the PTI would be crushed and under that plan our senior party leader was taken into custody from Karachi.
He further claimed that more than 3000 workers of the PTI have been either arrested or kidnapped, adding that under that first Ali Ameen and now Ali Zaidi have been kidnapped. “More planning is still being made,” he said.
The PTI chairman went on to claim that another operation could be carried out at Zaman Park after Ramazan or Eidul Fitr.
Imran Khan said, “I believe that it [operation] will weaken us in case of elections, adding that I want to make it clear that these actions will not cause any harm to us but public’s anger is increasing, and everyone will see the result of the London plan in the elections.
Meanwhile, a day after the Lahore High Court (LHC) granted protective bail to PTI chief Imran Khan in sedition case until April 26, the capital police on Saturday formed a joint investigation team (JIT) to probe the case.
Inspector General (IG) Operations Syed Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari would convene the JIT comprising members from other law-enforcement agencies.
Earlier, the LHC had accepted Mr Khan’s protective bail plea in the sedition case till April 26.
Justice Baqar Ali Najafi heard the petition after Friday prayers. The PTI chief made complainant Manzoor Ahmed respondent in the petition. He said the FIR had been politically motivated and it was lodged in violation of the law.
The former premier pleaded with the high court to grant him protective bail so he could approach the relevant court in this regard.
The FIR had been lodged at the Islamabad’s Ramna police station against Mr Khan for using ‘inappropriate’ language against officers of an institution under sections 500, 505, and 138 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).
Meanwhile, the former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court (LHC) against the registration of cases against him across the country.
Federal Secretary for the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Law, Ministry of Defense, and Secretary Cabinet Division were made parties in the application.
Likewise, the Punjab Chief Secretary, Home Department Secretary, IG Punjab, Anti-Corruption Establishment DG, NAB, and FIA are also parties in the petition.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, PEMRA, and Election Commission have also been made parties in the petition.
It is contended that 121 FIRs have so far been registered against PTI chief Imran Khan across the country. These cases have been registered in Quetta, Karachi, Islamabad, and Lahore.
He submitted the court to pass an order to stop the proceedings in the registered cases against the him and workers till the decision of this application.
The petition pleaded that the anchors and journalists who support PTI’s point of view are threatened.
Similarly, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf supporters are being detained and arrested by the caretaker government.
It is prayed that the court should declare the measures of arrests, detentions, and disappearances of the workers against fundamental rights.
The petitioner contended that the court should issue directions to stop disciplinary action in the cases already filed against PTI leaders and activists.
The court should issue an order to stop criminal proceedings without notice, he submitted.
