The entire world has rapidly been making progress and development by leaps and bounds in all walks of life, especially in the field of education, just because of wise decision-making and implementing the transformational reforms recommended by the educational experts. It is just because of quality of education that the world is unfolding the mysteries of the universe; exploring the new avenues of discoveries; devising the plans to settle on the moon and touching the highest horizon of accomplishment in the area of science and technology.
On the other hand, we are engaged in making the crowd; wasting the resources and chanting the hollow slogan of educational hub of the state. There is only quantity of education, however we need quality of education that is prerequisite for progress and development of the nation. It is crystal clear that we lack quality of education, that is quite alarming situation for the visionary academia.
To support my stance, it is hereby shared one of the examples as evidence. Since the postgraduate colleges of Azad Jammu and Kashmir started BS Programmes, there are numerous problems being faced by teaching fraternity as well as the learners just because of lack of coordination and proper infrastructure. Colleges have affiliation with university of Azad Jammu and Kashmir; however, the institution itself does not have organized mechanism to combat the challenges and queries being raised by other educationists. It keeps on granting afflictions not only to governmental institutions but also to private ones. There is no harm in enlarging the network, but there must be standard and quality of education. In other words, it acts as the regulatory authority. It must take such actions that become the source of innovation and creativity in the field of education.
Regardless of several problems, sole responsibility lies on the shoulders of educationists to step forward to take over the system for the betterment of next generation. There is a dire need to produce such graduates, who can contribute to the society; face the challenges of the near future. It is only possible if action is timely taken.
Moreover, it is mentioned as the suggestion to be declared one of postgraduate colleges as the degree awarding institutions. In this way, the problems of management can be mitigated. It will act as like Higher Education Commission; the institute itself carries its work as the regulatory authority for the rest of the colleges, where BS Programmes are being launched.
Above-mentioned ideas will also promote the idea of knowledge economy. There will be less burden of fees on the students, and the institutions themselves become self-sufficient as well as strong financially.
Furthermore, there is another issue of evaluation for the performance of the students enrolled in the said disciplines. To cope up the existing problems, it is suggested that there should be formative and summative evaluation along with presentations, quizzes and assignments.
Besides this, the centralized examination system to be introduced for the sake of transparency. Apart from that, there must be an incentive for the examiners; due wages must be given to paper setters.
The answer books, bubble and response sheets should be assessed by those individuals, who have strong grip over the assigned subjects. Additionally, the contents and outlines should be modified and changed with the passage of time, keeping in view the demand and utilization of the market.
In short, the conclusion can explicitly be drawn that it is an inevitable to formulate the separate regulatory body for the conduction of examination; awarding the degrees to the graduates.
