Punjab Education Department Directs Schools to Implement Revised Timings Strictly
LAHORE: (News Desk) – The Punjab School Education Department has revised the operating hours of government schools across the province, with the new schedule taking effect on October 16, 2026, and remaining in place until March 31, 2027, 24NewsHD TV reported on Wednesday.
According to an official notification, single-shift schools will operate from 8:45am to 1:30pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, school hours will end at 12:30pm.
For double-shift schools, the morning shift will run from 8:45am to 1:15pm from Monday to Thursday, while classes on Fridays will conclude at 12:30pm.
The afternoon shift at double-shift schools will operate from 1:30pm to 4:30pm from Monday to Thursday. On Fridays, the second shift will begin at 2pm and end at 4:30pm.
The department has directed all chief executive officers (CEOs) of education across Punjab to ensure strict compliance with the revised timings.
The notification also authorises the relevant CEOs (Education) to adjust school timings for girls’ institutions by up to 15 minutes, wherever necessary.
The revised schedule will remain effective until March 31, 2027.
