Three Ships Reportedly Hit by Missiles in Hormuz

Missile Strikes Reported as Tensions Escalate Around Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN: (News Desk) – Three vessels, including an oil tanker and LNG carrier, have reportedly come under missile attack in the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian media. The reports said the third vessel was a commercial ship and that all three were struck by unidentified missiles while transiting the strategically important waterway. Further details about the vessels, damage and possible casualties were not immediately available.

The reported attacks come amid continuing tensions over control and navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The US Central Command (Centcom), meanwhile, rejected the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ claim that Iran has full control over the strategic waterway.

Centcom said Iran did not control the strait and maintained that thousands of vessels had continued to pass through the waterway in recent months. The US command described the continued movement of ships as evidence contradicting Tehran’s assertion of full control.

The latest developments follow US President Donald Trump’s rejection of an Iranian proposal linked to reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Despite the rejection, diplomatic contacts between Washington and Tehran are continuing through mediators.
