Virat Kohli Climbs to Second in Latest ICC ODI Rankings

NEW DELHI: (Sports Desk) – India’s star batter Virat Kohli has moved up one place to second in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings following his outstanding performance against the West Indies.

Kohli climbed the rankings after scoring an unbeaten 139 in the opening match of the series. His innings featured nine sixes and marked the 55th century of his ODI career.

Kohli now has 796 rating points, while India captain Shubman Gill remains at the top with 816 points. New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell is third with 794 points, followed by Rohit Sharma in fourth with 719 points.

Men’s ODI cricket also witnessed a rare milestone on September 27, when six centuries were scored in a single day.

South Africa’s Temba Bavuma and David Miller, West Indies batter Justin Greaves and England’s Tom Banton were among those to register three-figure scores.

Sri Lanka’s Kusal Mendis also made significant progress in the rankings, climbing three places to a career-best seventh position after scoring 121 runs.

In the ODI bowling rankings, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has moved up to third, while India’s Kuldeep Yadav is fifth and Australia’s Josh Hazlewood occupies tenth place.
