LAHORE: (News Desk) – The Punjab government has granted a special exemption allowing private companies to procure wheat through the government’s e-system following technical problems in the online procurement mechanism, on Monday.
According to the report, the provincial government has approved selected private companies for wheat procurement and made arrangements for their security and administrative management.
Under the Wheat Policy 2026, the Punjab government has set a wheat procurement quota of 3,000,000 tonnes.
A government document stated that technical issues prevented the e-procurement system from generating the names of successful bidders. As a result, preliminary approval letters were issued through postal mail and email instead of being generated through the official system.
The document clarified that the bidding and selection of private companies had been completed through the e-procurement process. However, due to the technical glitches, the government has now provided a special exemption and administrative protection to preliminary approval letters that had already been issued and remained outstanding.
