Pakistan Lebanon Security Ties Strengthen With New Intelligence Pact

Pakistan & Lebanon – (Staff Correspondent/Web Desk) – Pakistan Lebanon security cooperation has taken a major step forward after a key meeting in Islamabad on Tuesday. Both countries agreed to work more closely on intelligence sharing and interior ministry coordination, according to an official statement.

The meeting was held between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and his Lebanese counterpart, Ahmad Al-Hajjar. The Lebanese minister is currently on a two-day official visit to Pakistan.

During his trip, Al-Hajjar also held meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who serves as both Chief of Defence Force and Chief of Army Staff.

Talks between the two sides covered several important areas. These included security matters, counter-terrorism efforts, and steps to control narcotics. Illegal immigration and money laundering were also discussed at length.

Cybercrime was another key topic during the meeting. Both nations agreed that stronger teamwork is needed to tackle online threats and financial crimes more effectively.

Officials also spoke about training programs for police academies. Better collaboration in this area could help both countries build stronger law enforcement systems over time.

The regional situation came up during the discussion as well. Pakistan shared its ongoing efforts to support lasting peace across the region.

A major outcome of the meeting was the decision to sign a fresh Memorandum of Understanding soon. This MoU will help strengthen cooperation between the interior ministries of both nations.

Both sides also agreed to appoint focal persons. These officials will help manage and improve coordination between Pakistan and Lebanon going forward.

An existing agreement on counter-narcotics work will now be fully implemented. Both countries see this as an important step toward safer communities.

The two interior ministers reaffirmed their commitment to building stronger ties in many areas. They expressed hope that this visit would open new doors for future cooperation.

Visa-free entry for diplomatic and official passport holders was also part of the discussion. This move could make travel easier for officials from both nations.

Minister Naqvi said he hopes this visit will create fresh opportunities for deeper cooperation between the two countries.

In response, the Lebanese minister thanked Pakistan for its warm hospitality during his visit. He described Pakistan as a brotherly nation and said Lebanon wants to expand cooperation, especially in matters of internal security.

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also attended the meeting, along with several senior officials from both sides.

This visit marks an important moment in Pakistan Lebanon security relations, setting the stage for stronger institutional ties in the coming months.
