Security Forces Foil Terrorist Infiltration Attempt Along Pak-Afghan Border

RAWALPINDI: Security forces have thwarted an attempted infiltration by terrorists along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The military’s media wing said militants affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij attempted to cross into Pakistan but were effectively engaged by security forces. The operation was carried out in a professional manner, preventing the group from entering the country.

According to ISPR, the engagement continued for 36 hours, during which a number of terrorists were killed. A significant cache of arms and ammunition was also recovered from the slain militants.

The ISPR stated that the terrorists were attempting to undermine peace and stability in Pakistan. It also accused the Afghan Taliban government of failing to prevent militant groups from operating from Afghan territory, ensure effective border management and meet its international obligations.

The military said security forces remain fully committed to protecting Pakistan’s borders and safeguarding the country against terrorist threats.

A clearance operation is currently underway in the area to eliminate remaining threats, ISPR added, reiterating that the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign will continue against what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.
