Brydon Carse Misses England Squad for Pakistan Test

BIRMINGHAM: (Sports Desk) – Brydon Carse will remain out of England’s Test squad after selectors omitted the Durham fast bowler from the 15-man group for the series finale against Pakistan, beginning next week in Birmingham.

Carse was left out of the squad for the second Test at Lord’s after he was reportedly arrested and handcuffed by police following an incident outside a nightclub in Derby on August 22.

The 31-year-old remains under investigation by Derbyshire Police over allegations of assault.

Carse did not play in the opening Test at Headingley, where England produced a dominant performance to defeat Pakistan by an innings and 103 runs. He was subsequently replaced in the squad by 23-year-old Hampshire fast bowler Sonny Baker, who has retained his place for the third Test.

Surrey seamer Matthew Fisher, however, has been left out of the latest squad as England prepare to complete a 3-0 series sweep.

England strengthened their position in the series with a 194-run victory at Lord’s on Sunday, maintaining an impressive start to Joe Root’s second stint as permanent Test captain.

The series has also seen major changes within the Pakistan camp. Following their defeat at Lord’s, Pakistan dismissed head coach Sarfaraz Ahmed and pace-bowling coach Umar Gul. The team also sent seven players home.

The third and final Test will begin at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Wednesday, September 9, with England needing one more victory to complete a clean sweep.
