PTI Alleges Supreme Court Order Violation Over Imran’s Pims Shift

PTI chief says Imran Khan's hospital transfer ignored top court's clear directions

ISLAMABAD – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has raised a Supreme Court order violation claim, accusing the federal government of ignoring the top court’s clear directions on shifting Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital. Speaking to reporters on Friday, he called the entire episode deeply unfortunate.

Gohar said the court’s ruling left no room for confusion. There was no expectation, he added, that the former prime minister would end up somewhere else, or that his family would be kept in the dark about where he was being taken.

His comments came shortly after Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed that Khan had been returned to Adiala jail following a medical checkup at Pims. Doctors from Shifa International were also present during the examination.

Tarar wrote on X that Khan was moved overnight between August 20 and 21 under tight security. A panel that included an eye specialist, a heart doctor, and a general physician examined him and declared him medically fit. His sister, Uzma Khan, stayed with him throughout.

The Supreme Court had ordered Khan’s transfer within two days after reviewing his health situation on August 18. The government later filed a review plea, but the court’s registrar office sent it back on Thursday over certain objections.

Uzma later told reporters about the confusing overnight journey to Pims, saying police stayed silent when she asked where they were headed. She said her brother appeared anxious and told her he had been mistreated for months behind bars.

Gohar questioned how democracy could survive if even a court order couldn’t be followed properly. Still, he insisted PTI remains open to resolving political disputes through dialogue rather than confrontation.

Khan, 73, has been jailed since August 2023 on charges his party calls politically motivated.
