LAHORE: (Staff Reporter) – The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert for the next spell of monsoon rains across the province, expected to continue from August 17 to August 21.
According to the PDMA, rain is forecast in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, Attock, Sialkot, Narowal and Mandi Bahauddin. Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad and Wazirabad are also likely to receive rainfall.
The forecast further includes Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sargodha, Khushab, Mianwali and Noorpur Thal.
Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Layyah, Bhakkar, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan are expected to receive rain on August 20 and 21.
The PDMA has warned of possible urban flooding in low-lying areas of Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot and Lahore due to heavy rainfall. Authorities have also cautioned about landslides in Murree, Galiyat and other mountainous areas.
