Establishment Division NSWC Notification: Nominations Revised for War Course 2026-27

Islamabad – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – Islamabad has a fresh update worth knowing. The Establishment Division NSWC notification confirms that two officers were removed from the training list, while two fresh names were added in their place.

This training programme is not optional. Every BPS-20 officer must pass it before moving up to BPS-21. The course is run by the National Defence University, and its full name is the National Security and War Course.

According to the notice sent to the NDU President, the officers taken off the list are Munir Ahmed Sheikh and Muhammad Aslam Chaudhry. Sheikh served as DIG South at Pakistan Railways Police. Chaudhry held the post of Minister for Economic Affairs at Pakistan’s Embassy in China.

Officials say both names were dropped after formal requests from their own ministries. No further reason was shared publicly.

With two seats now open, new officers stepped in. Mir Wais Niaz, who works as Deputy Director General at the Intelligence Bureau, got a seat. Nadeem Ashraf, holding the same rank at the Ministry of Defence, also joined the list.

This shuffle matters more than it looks. The course decides who moves ahead in Pakistan’s top bureaucratic ranks. Missing this training can delay a career by years.

The National Security and War Course covers strategy, defence policy, and national security matters. Officers from across departments attend together. It builds a shared understanding among future top-tier bureaucrats.

Every year, the Establishment Division reviews and finalizes this list. Changes like this are common, since ministries sometimes need their officers elsewhere. Still, each update is closely watched by civil servants hoping for their own nomination someday.

For now, the 2026-27 batch is set, with Niaz and Ashraf taking the newly vacant seats. Their training year begins soon at the National Defence University in Islamabad.
