Kabal Police Station Blast Martyred 15, Six Policemen Among Dead

Swat Kabal – (Staff Reporter/Web Desk) – The Kabal police station blast has left the Swat district in shock after a suicide bomber detonated explosives near the main entrance on Sunday evening. At least fifteen people lost their lives, including six police officers who were on duty at the time.

Local officials say the attacker tried to force his way inside the police compound in Kabal, a town in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province near the Afghan border. Alert officers on duty stopped him before he could get through the gate.

Unable to enter, the bomber set off his explosives right outside the station’s main entrance. The blast tore through the area, wounding dozens more people nearby.

Malakand Deputy Inspector General Syed Fida Hussain shared details of the attack with local media. He confirmed that police staff were among the dead and said the timely action of the officer on duty may have stopped an even larger tragedy inside the compound.

Swat District Police Officer Muhammad Umar Gandapur said investigators found a severed human head at the blast site. Officials believe it belonged to the suicide bomber himself, though formal identification is still underway.

The explosion happened close to Kabal Chowk, a busy intersection in the town. At the same time, local youths had gathered nearby for a peaceful protest against rising violence in the region. This meant a larger crowd than usual was present when the blast occurred, adding to the number of casualties.

Rescue workers reached the scene quickly. Officials from Rescue 1122 said more than a dozen ambulances and dozens of trained staff took part in the emergency response. The wounded were rushed to Saidu Sharif Hospital and a nearby facility in Kabal for urgent treatment.

Following the attack, Swat’s Deputy Commissioner declared an emergency across the district. This step allowed hospitals and rescue teams to focus all available resources on treating the injured.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the bombing. However, the area has a long history of unrest. Swat was once a stronghold for militant groups before a major military operation in 2009 pushed them out and restored a level of calm to the valley.

In recent months, the region has seen a fresh rise in attacks. Officials and residents alike have expressed growing concern over security in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with several similar incidents reported across the province this year.

Pakistan’s Interior Minister condemned the bombing and offered condolences to the families of the victims. He also wished a fast recovery to those injured in the blast.

As investigations continue, security forces have cordoned off the area around Kabal police station. Search operations are underway to gather evidence and identify the attacker, while residents wait anxiously for answers about who was behind the assault and why it targeted their town.
