Bus Falls Into Ravine During Peshawar Journey From Balochistan
Peshawar Bus Accident Balochistan: 24 Killed in Ravine Fall
QUETTA – (Web Desk) – The Peshawar bus accident in Balochistan has left at least 24 people dead and eight others hurt, after a passenger bus rolled off the road and dropped into a deep ravine. The crash happened just as the bus crossed out of Sherani district and entered Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday.
Local officials say rescue teams and ambulances rushed to the spot as soon as word of the crash reached them. Wali Khan Kakar, the deputy commissioner of Sherani, told reporters that emergency crews from the district administration got to the scene right away and began pulling out the injured.
Rescue work is still going on, and those who were hurt have been moved to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials have not yet given a full breakdown of how badly each passenger was injured.
According to the deputy commissioner, the bus had set out from Quetta carrying 36 people. On the way, more passengers climbed aboard after a different bus broke down along the route, which meant the vehicle was carrying more people than it started with by the time it reached the accident site.
The stretch of road through Sherani and into Dera Ismail Khan is known for sharp turns and steep drops, and buses passing through this area have been involved in similar accidents before. No official cause has been confirmed yet, and an investigation is expected to follow once rescue work wraps up.
