Stokes falls cheaply after impressive bowling display against New Zealand
LONDON: (Web Desk) – England all-rounder Ben Stokes endured a mixed outing on Saturday, following up an impressive performance with the ball by managing just 15 runs in the second innings against New Zealand.
Stokes had returned to the England side after being left out of the second Test defeat at the Oval for breaching a midnight curfew alongside Gus Atkinson, after the pair celebrated England’s first-Test victory over New Zealand at a London nightclub.
Earlier in the match, Stokes played a key role with the ball, claiming figures of 4-70 in New Zealand’s first innings. He broke a threatening opening partnership that had put the Black Caps on course for a total of more than 500.

However, his contribution with the bat was short-lived. Fresh from scoring 95 for Durham in county cricket, Stokes made just 15 before being dismissed by a superb delivery from Zak Foulkes, which sharply cut back to bowl the left-hander.
Despite his early dismissal, Stokes’ bowling performance remained one of the highlights of England’s efforts in the match.
