Canada First World Cup Win History as Swiss Thump Bosnia

Canada Makes World Cup History With First Ever Win Against Qatar

Canada – (Web Desk) – Canada finally made World Cup history with their first win ever, beating Qatar 6-0 in a stunning display at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver. This was a night Canadian football fans will never forget.

Jonathan David was the star of the show. The Juventus striker scored a brilliant hat-trick to lead Canada to one of their greatest victories in football history. Cyle Larin and Nathan Saliba also got on the scoresheet, while a Mohammad Manai own goal added to Qatar’s misery.

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney was in the crowd, wearing a Canada shirt, cheering alongside thousands of fired-up fans who packed BC Place in red.

Qatar made things worse for themselves with two red cards. Homam el-Amin was sent off in the first half for denying a clear goalscoring chance. Then Assim Madibo received a red card in the second half after a dangerous tackle that left Canadian midfielder Ismael Kone with a suspected broken leg. Kone was stretchered off and taken to hospital for surgery.

Coach Jesse Marsch was emotional after the game. He said everyone on the bench heard the bone snap and the whole team was shaken. He called Kone a big part of the heart of the team.

With Qatar down to nine men, Canada made full use of their advantage and scored three more goals in the second half to build a massive goal difference.

Canada now sit level with Switzerland on four points at the top of Group B. If they draw their next match against Switzerland on June 24 in Vancouver, they will top the group.

Earlier on the same day, Switzerland beat Bosnia-Herzegovina 4-1 in Los Angeles to keep their campaign alive. Johan Manzambi scored twice while Ruben Vargas and Granit Xhaka also netted for the Swiss side.

In Group A, South Africa drew 1-1 with Czech Republic in Atlanta thanks to a late Teboho Mokoena penalty. Mexico became the first team to reach the knockout stage of the 2026 World Cup after beating South Korea 1-0 in Guadalajara.
