Lahore Metro Bus Catches Fire Today Due to Engine Overheating

Kalma Chowk – (Web Desk) – A Lahore Metro Bus catches fire today near Kalma Chowk, sparking concerns about passenger safety during the ongoing heatwave in the city.

The fire broke out in the bus engine, according to Metro Bus management. Officials said extreme heat caused the engine to overheat, which led to the fire.

Fortunately, the Metro Bus staff handled the situation on their own. All passengers on board were safely evacuated before the fire spread further.

This is not the first such incident. Back in May 2026, a Metro Bus travelling between Islamabad and Rawalpindi also caught fire. Passengers had to break windows to escape as thick smoke filled the bus.

In that earlier incident, the entire bus burnt down by the time Rescue 1122 reached the scene. The fire had caused the Metro Bus service to remain suspended for several hours, leaving many commuters stranded.

Authorities have not yet announced any safety review following today’s incident. However, rising temperatures across Punjab are raising questions about the condition of public transport vehicles.
