Christian Leaders Discuss Welfare Issues With Federal Government
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – A delegation representing Pakistan’s Christian community met with Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Azam Nazeer Tarar and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar in Islamabad to discuss minority rights, legal reforms, and matters concerning the welfare of the Christian community.
During the meeting, participants held detailed discussions on strengthening legal safeguards for minorities and enhancing their social and constitutional protections. The delegation appreciated the government’s ongoing efforts to uphold the rights of minority communities throughout Pakistan.
Christian representatives welcomed recent legislative measures, including the Child Marriage Restraint Act, and praised initiatives aimed at ensuring equal opportunities and protection for minorities through the National Commission for Minorities Rights.
The discussion also focused on challenges faced by the Christian community and ways to ensure that existing laws and policies effectively address their concerns. Both sides exchanged views on proposals designed to improve community welfare and strengthen legal protections.
Participants agreed to continue consultations on recommendations presented during the meeting and explore mechanisms for addressing issues related to Christian Personal Laws and other community matters.

Speaking on the occasion, Azam Nazeer Tarar said that inclusive consultation remains vital for meaningful legal and policy reforms. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring equal rights and opportunities for all citizens in line with the Constitution of Pakistan.
Attaullah Tarar emphasized that regular engagement with minority representatives helps ensure that legislation and public policies reflect the needs and aspirations of all segments of society. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting minority rights and promoting equal citizenship.
The information minister further stated that the government remains dedicated to fostering interfaith harmony, social inclusion, and an environment where every Pakistani, regardless of faith or background, can contribute to the country’s progress and development.
