PPP Chief Criticizes Interference Ahead Of GB Elections

GILGIT: (Web Desk) – Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has alleged that certain elements are attempting to manipulate the upcoming elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. Speaking at an election rally in Chilas, Diamer, he said the people of the region would exercise their right to vote on June 7 and defeat any efforts aimed at influencing the electoral process.

He stressed that strengthening Pakistan’s provinces leads to a stronger federation and reiterated that the Pakistan Peoples Party would ensure that the benefits of the 18th Constitutional Amendment reach Gilgit-Baltistan. He also announced plans to increase representation from the region in the Benazir Income Support Programme and promised greater financial inclusion.

Bilawal further pledged that PPP would grant ownership and political rights to the people of Gilgit-Baltistan, while urging the prime minister to expedite the completion of the Diamer-Bhasha Dam. He expressed confidence that his party would win the upcoming election with a significant margin.

He also stated that attempts to undermine welfare initiatives like BISP would be resisted and vowed increased allocations in the next budget. In addition, he credited PPP leaders Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto for key national defence achievements, including Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programmes.
