Mpox Isolation Ward Sees Fifth Suspected Patient in Multan
ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – A fifth suspected mpox patient has been admitted to the isolation ward at Nishtar Hospital Multan, increasing the number of individuals under treatment at the facility to five, hospital officials confirmed on Tuesday.
According to hospital sources, four patients have already tested positive for mpox and are currently receiving treatment in the dedicated isolation unit.
The newly admitted individual is suspected of carrying the virus and has been placed under strict isolation while awaiting further laboratory test results and medical evaluation.
Two Suspected Mpox Cases Reported In Multan Hospital
Officials said confirmed cases include residents from Multan as well as nearby districts such as Muzaffargarh and Vehari, indicating localized transmission concerns within southern Punjab.
Health authorities stated that patients are being closely monitored and provided specialized care to prevent further spread of the virus within the hospital and surrounding communities.
They added that enhanced surveillance and precautionary measures remain in place, with medical teams actively tracking suspected cases and managing isolation protocols.
The situation continues to be monitored by regional health departments as part of broader efforts to contain mpox and limit potential outbreaks in the region.
