Punjab Issues Heatwave Alert During Eid Holidays
PDMA Warns Citizens About Severe Heatwave Conditions
Islamabad: (Web Desk) The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has issued a province-wide heatwave alert for Punjab from May 25 to May 31, coinciding with the Eid-ul-Azha holidays, as temperatures are expected to rise sharply across several districts.
According to the advisory, northern Punjab is likely to experience temperatures between 42°C and 45°C. Major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Sargodha, Gujranwala, and Sialkot are expected to face intense heat conditions during the alert period.
In southern Punjab, temperatures could climb even higher, ranging between 47°C and 50°C in areas such as Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Rahim Yar Khan, increasing the risk of heat-related illnesses.

The PDMA has advised residents, particularly children, women, and elderly citizens, to avoid unnecessary outdoor exposure, remain hydrated, and take preventive measures against heatstroke and dehydration. Emergency service Rescue 1122 has also been placed on high alert to handle heat-related emergencies during the upcoming days.
Authorities warned that temperatures are expected to remain significantly high in several districts, including Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Narowal, Okara, Kasur, Multan, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Rajanpur, Bhakkar, Layyah, Kot Addo, Jhang, Khushab, Mianwali, Noorpur Thal, and Sahiwal.
