Pakistan Strengthens Partnership With Aga Khan Development Network

Islamabad: (Web Desk) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised His Highness Prince Rahim Aga Khan V for his dedication to promoting peace, stability, and constructive cooperation with governments and international partners during a breakfast meeting held in Islamabad.

The meeting was hosted by the Prime Minister in honour of Prince Rahim Aga Khan V on the occasion of his first official visit to Pakistan. Shehbaz Sharif warmly welcomed the Ismaili spiritual leader and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to shared humanitarian and development goals.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister highlighted the longstanding partnership between Pakistan and the Aga Khan Development Network. He appreciated the network’s contributions in areas including healthcare, education, rural development, climate adaptation, disaster resilience, renewable energy, youth entrepreneurship, and digital skills training.

Shehbaz Sharif especially acknowledged the organisation’s impactful work in Gilgit-Baltistan and Chitral, where development initiatives have supported remote and vulnerable communities for many years.

The Prime Minister encouraged the Aga Khan Development Network to further strengthen its partnership with Pakistan, particularly in northern regions vulnerable to climate change and glacial risks. He also welcomed deeper engagement with Aga Khan University, praising its major role in improving healthcare and higher education standards in the country.

During the meeting, Shehbaz Sharif thanked Prince Rahim Aga Khan V for making Serena Hotel available free of charge for the Islamabad Talks. He also expressed condolences over the passing of Prince Karim Aga Khan IV and paid tribute to his decades-long humanitarian services and close relationship with Pakistan.

The Prime Minister presented a commemorative stamp issued by Pakistan Post in honour of the late Prince Karim Aga Khan IV for his contributions to the country.

Prince Rahim Aga Khan V thanked the Prime Minister for the warm hospitality extended during his visit and expressed his commitment to continuing cooperation with Pakistan on various human development and welfare initiatives.
