ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – Former Pakistan cricket captain Shahid Afridi was awarded the prestigious Hilal-e-Imtiaz by President Asif Ali Zardari during a special investiture ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in recognition of his remarkable contributions to sports and cricket.
The grand ceremony in Islamabad was attended by senior political leaders, government officials and notable public figures, as the state honoured personalities from various sectors for their exceptional services to the nation.

Veteran politician Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his lifelong efforts in strengthening democracy and political values in Pakistan. The award was received by his son Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmad on his behalf.
Former senator Irfan Siddiqui was also posthumously honoured with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz for his services in literature and public life. His son Imran Khawar Siddiqui accepted the award during the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Army soldier Azhar Mahmood received the Hilal-e-Shujaat in acknowledgment of extraordinary bravery and courage. The event highlighted national appreciation for contributions in sports, politics, literature and defence.
