Gilgit: (News Desk) – A key cabinet meeting was held in Gilgit-Baltistan under the chairmanship of Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (R) Yaar Muhammad, where preparations for upcoming general elections, administrative matters, and governance reforms were reviewed in detail.
The meeting was attended by all cabinet members along with the Chief Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and senior officials from various departments, reflecting a comprehensive review of governance and security issues.
At the outset, the cabinet paid tribute to the armed forces on the completion of one year of “Marka-e-Haq,” acknowledging their role in strengthening national defence and countering security threats.

Officials reviewed the implementation of previous cabinet decisions and assessed departmental performance. The Chief Minister directed all departments to ensure swift execution of pending decisions, warning that negligence in public service delivery would not be tolerated.
Among the key approvals, the cabinet sanctioned a Memorandum of Understanding between the School Education Department of Gilgit-Baltistan and the University of Lahore to strengthen educational cooperation and academic development.
The meeting also approved the introduction of e-stamping to improve public convenience and eliminate fraud related to counterfeit stamp papers. In another decision, Rs 10 million was approved as grant-in-aid under the Social Welfare Department’s CAST Center for an NGO working for the training and welfare of persons with disabilities in Gilgit.
The Caretaker Chief Minister emphasized that all institutions must function within constitutional boundaries and maintain strict neutrality during the electoral process. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency, merit, and rule of law, stating that public trust would remain a top priority.
The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge to ensure peaceful, transparent, and fair elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, along with continued efforts to strengthen accountable governance and institutional efficiency.
