Punjab government clears sweeping restructuring of health pharmacy cadre posts

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – The Punjab government has officially approved a large-scale restructuring of the pharmacy cadre within its health department, according to a report on Monday. The plan includes the creation of 959 new jobs and a reorganisation of 1,518 existing positions across the province.

This decision has been endorsed by the provincial finance department, which has also approved the updated allocation of posts ranging from Grade 17 to Grade 20. As part of the restructuring, senior-level roles have been expanded, including an increase in positions for Chief Drug Controllers in Grade 20.

Additionally, more posts have been added for Drug Controllers and Directors Technical in Grade 19 to strengthen regulatory functions. At the mid-management level, the number of Deputy Drug Controller roles in Grade 18 has been raised to 234.

To improve healthcare services and operational support, 897 new pharmacist positions in Grade 17 have been sanctioned. These roles are expected to enhance staffing at hospitals and drug testing laboratories.

The finance department has instructed the concerned authorities to promptly complete verification and auditing procedures so the implementation of this restructuring plan can proceed without delays.
