US-Israeli Strikes Hit Iran, Lebanon Amid Rising Tensions

Escalating Middle East Conflict: US-Israeli Strikes Target Iran, Lebanon, Iraq

WASHINGTON: (Web Desk) – US and Israeli forces reportedly struck the Shahid Qasem Soleimani International Airport in southwestern Iran on Sunday, Iranian state media reported. According to IRNA, citing Khuzestan deputy governor Valiollah Hayati, the airstrike targeted the facility amid escalating tensions in the region.

US President Donald Trump issued a series of expletive-laden threats via social media, warning Iran that bridges and power plants could be targeted if the Strait of Hormuz was not reopened by Tuesday. Trump suggested negotiations were ongoing but added that failure to comply could lead to a “blow everything up” scenario.

Meanwhile, Israel carried out multiple airstrikes across southern Lebanon, including Beirut’s southern suburbs, killing at least four people and wounding 39. The strikes hit areas near a public hospital and targeted Hezbollah infrastructure. Earlier attacks killed seven people in the town of Kfar Hatta, including a displaced family of six. The Lebanese president called for talks with Israel to prevent further destruction.

Pro-Iran armed groups in Iraq also attacked two US diplomatic sites overnight, the US embassy in Baghdad reported, citing attempts to target American personnel. These events mark a surge in hostilities across the Middle East, involving Iran, Israel, the US, and allied groups in Lebanon and Iraq.
