King Charles hosts Syrian President Al-Sharaa at Buckingham Palace, London
Syria and the UK Move Closer as Leaders Meet in London
Syria & London – (Web Desk) – Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa visited London on Tuesday. He met King Charles at Buckingham Palace. The King welcomed him warmly and showed strong support for Syria. He spoke about helping the country rebuild and working more closely together.
President Al-Sharaa also sat down with Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer. The two leaders talked about what is happening across the Middle East right now. Both agreed that things should not get worse. Bringing stability back to the region was a shared priority.
One big topic on the table was the Strait of Hormuz. With global economies already under pressure, keeping that waterway open matters more than ever.
Starmer outlined plans to strengthen ties on migration issues, including strategies for managing the return of people without the right to remain in the UK.
Both sides agreed to maintain close communication moving forward.

The Palace visit came amid reports that King Charles attached two separate notes expressing reservations over Peter Mandelson’s appointment as Britain’s ambassador to the United States.
When asked to formally approve the posting, the monarch reportedly asked, “Do you really think that’s wise?”
