Morocco Awarded AFCON Title After Senegal Forfeit

Senegal Walkout Hands Morocco Africa Cup of Nations Title

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk)- The Confederation of African Football has officially awarded the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title to Morocco after Senegal forfeited the final by walking off the pitch during a controversial match in January 2026.

Although Senegal had initially secured victory on the field, the team staged a protest against refereeing decisions, resulting in a 14-minute stoppage before abandoning the match. Morocco subsequently filed an appeal, challenging the outcome of the fixture.

CAF’s appeal board reviewed the case and ruled in Morocco’s favor, citing Articles 82 and 84 of the competition regulations. According to the decision, Senegal’s departure from the field constituted a formal forfeit under tournament rules. As a result, Morocco has been declared the winner with a 3-0 scoreline.
