LPG Dealers Criticise FIA Raid Warning Gas Price Surge

LPG Dealers Warn Price Spike After FIA Raid on Ship

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has come under criticism from LPG dealers after conducting a raid on a ship carrying Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG), with industry representatives warning that the move could aggravate the country’s gas supply crisis.

Irfan Khokhar, Chairman of the LPG Distributors Association of Pakistan, said the action has raised serious concerns among LPG dealers and importers across the country.

LPG prices jump again, increasing pressure on consumers

According to Khokhar, the FIA’s intervention has created uncertainty in the LPG import sector. Importers, he said, are now hesitant to place new orders for LPG shipments, fearing similar actions in the future. He cautioned that if imports slow down further, LPG prices could surge dramatically, possibly reaching Rs500 per kilogram.

Khokhar also pointed out that Pakistan is already facing a shortage of natural gas. He claimed that imports of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) have reportedly been halted since March 14, further intensifying concerns about the country’s energy supply.

He urged the government to immediately take notice of the situation and prevent what he described as unnecessary interference that could disrupt LPG imports.

Khokhar also appealed to Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, to step in and resolve the issue. He warned that if the matter remains unresolved, many low-income families may face difficulties in cooking during the holy month of Ramadan due to rising gas prices and limited availability.
