WhatsApp Testing Status Sharing With Recent Contacts

WhatsApp Introduces Status Updates for Non-Contact Interactions in Beta

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – WhatsApp has started testing a new feature that allows users to share status updates with people who are not in their contact list but have recently interacted with them via chat or call, according to a report by WABetaInfo.

Previously, WhatsApp statuses could only be viewed by people saved in a user’s contact list. The new update aims to expand privacy settings while giving users more flexibility in controlling who sees their updates.

The feature builds on the “Close Friends” option, which was introduced earlier in WhatsApp’s beta version for Android. Close Friends allows users to share status updates with a select group of people.

Currently, this new functionality is being tested in limited regions across Android, iOS, and the WhatsApp web version. However, it is not yet confirmed when the update will be rolled out to all users globally.

The change reflects WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to provide users with more granular control over status visibility while maintaining privacy.
