India Beat West Indies, Seal T20 World Cup Semifinal Spot

MUMBAI: (Web Desk) – India defeated the West Indies by five wickets in a crucial Super Eight match of the ICC T20 World Cup, knocking the Caribbean side out of the tournament and securing a semifinal berth for India.
Batting first after losing the toss, West Indies posted a competitive 195 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. Roston Chase top-scored with 40 runs, while Shai Hope contributed 32, Shimron Hetmyer made 27, Rovman Powell added 34, and Jason Holder chipped in with 37.
For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers, claiming two wickets, while Hardik Pandya and Varun Chakravarthy picked up one wicket each.
West Indies set 196-run target against India
Chasing a stiff target, India reached the total in the final over, largely thanks to a magnificent unbeaten knock of 97 runs by Sanju Samson, who anchored the innings under pressure. Tilak Varma provided valuable support with 27 runs.
For West Indies, Jason Holder and Shimron Joseph took two wickets each, but their efforts were not enough to prevent India from crossing the finish line.
With this victory, India advanced to the semifinals, while West Indies’ campaign came to an end at the Super Eight stage.
