LHC Questions Son Over Alleged Detention of Mother

Ex FIA DG Moves Court for Wife’s Recovery

LAHORE: (Web Desk) – Former Director General of Federal Investigation Agency Mian Muhammad Amin has approached the Lahore High Court, seeking the recovery of his wife, whom he claims is being unlawfully kept by their son.

Acting on court orders, a bailiff produced the elderly woman from the residence of her son, Afnan Munib, who is currently serving as a Senior Superintendent of Police. The court questioned why the son was allegedly keeping his mother against her will when both parents wished to live together.

The SSP informed the court that his mother was seriously ill and receiving proper care at home. However, Chief Justice Aalia Neelum observed that the Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to live according to their own choice and questioned how anyone could be confined forcibly.

The bench also expressed concern over alleged misconduct with the court bailiff, which the SSP denied. Upon further inquiry, the court directed that the elderly woman be produced in person. She was later brought into the courtroom in a wheelchair following the court’s instructions.

In his petition, Mian Muhammad Amin stated that his son, currently posted in the Special Branch, had expelled him from the house and retained his wife. He requested the court to order her recovery so they could resume living together.
