Islamabad: (Web Desk) – The federal government has collected a record Rs822.93 billion under the head of Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) during the first half of the fiscal year 2025-26, from July 2025 to December 2025.
According to documents released by the Ministry of Finance, the PDL collection witnessed a significant increase of Rs273.51 billion compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year. This marks the highest petroleum levy collection in the country’s history.
During the corresponding period of the last fiscal year, the government had collected Rs549.41 billion through petroleum levy. For the current fiscal year, the target for petroleum levy collection has been set at Rs1,468.395 billion.
Petrol and Diesel Prices Likely to Rise Sharply from February One in Pakistan
In the previous fiscal year, the total petroleum levy collection stood at Rs1,220.213 billion. Meanwhile, the federal government received Rs1,019 billion under the head of petroleum development during fiscal year 2023-25, while Rs580 billion were collected as PDL in fiscal year 2022-23.
The sharp rise in petroleum levy collection reflects increased reliance on indirect taxation and higher fuel prices, making PDL a major source of revenue for the federal government.
