MUMBAI: (Web Desk) – India’s long-held claim of neutrality in global affairs has come under scrutiny following the imposition of US tariffs, reported on Sunday.
The country is facing mounting financial pressure while also growing more isolated internationally. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent confirmed that India’s imports of Russian oil have dropped significantly since the tariffs were enforced, calling it clear evidence of Washington’s policy success. He added that the 25 percent tariffs imposed on India have yielded effective results.

Meanwhile, Indian Express reported that Bessent has ruled out any possibility of withdrawing the tariffs. It is worth noting that in August last year, the United States had raised tariffs on Indian goods to 50 percent, dealing a severe blow to India’s economy.
