Scotland Replaces Bangladesh In T20 World Cup 2026

ICC Replaces Bangladesh With Scotland Ahead Of T20 World Cup

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The International Cricket Council (ICC) has reportedly replaced Bangladesh with Scotland in the T20 World Cup 2026 after the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) declined to send its team to India, ESPNcricinfo reported on Saturday. Scotland is expected to join Group C alongside Italy, Nepal, West Indies, and England.

According to reports, the ICC informed the BCB via email on Friday following Dhaka’s refusal to travel, citing safety concerns and political tensions between the two countries. Bangladesh had requested that their matches be moved to co-host Sri Lanka, but the ICC rejected the request, citing independent security assessments that confirmed no credible threat to players, officials, or fans at any Indian venues.

Earlier this week, the BCB indicated it would approach the ICC’s Dispute Resolution Committee (DRC) to challenge the decision. However, the ICC stated that rescheduling matches so close to the tournament would not be feasible and could set a precedent affecting the integrity of future events.

Despite widespread media reports, the ICC has yet to release an official statement confirming Scotland’s participation in the tournament, which is set to begin on February 7. The decision has sparked debate among fans and cricket analysts over the implications for Bangladesh and the tournament’s schedule.
