UK Offers $400 Million for Capacity Building of Geological Survey of Pakistan

British High Commissioner, Petroleum Minister Discuss Mineral Sector Cooperation

ISLAMABAD: (Web Desk) – The United Kingdom has offered $400 million for the capacity building of the Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP).

The offer was made by British High Commissioner to Pakistan Jane Marriott during a meeting with Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik in Islamabad on Tuesday. On the occasion, Jane Marriott acknowledged the vast investment opportunities available in Pakistan, particularly in the minerals and energy sectors.

Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik said that cooperation between the British Geological Survey and the Geological Survey of Pakistan would significantly contribute to the development of Pakistan’s mineral sector. He emphasized that such collaboration would help enhance technical expertise, data management, and exploration capabilities.

The minister also invited British companies to invest in offshore oil and gas exploration in Pakistan, highlighting the government’s commitment to facilitating foreign investment and strengthening energy security.
