Saudi King Salman Discharged After Routine Medical Tests
Royal Court says medical tests were reassuring as Saudi monarch returns home, easing concerns about health and leadership continuity nationwide.
Saudi Arabia – (Special Correspondent / Web Desk) – Saudi Arabia’s 90-year-old King Salman was discharged from a hospital in Riyadh on Friday after undergoing medical tests, according to a statement from the Royal Court. Officials said the test results were “reassuring,” easing concerns about the monarch’s health.
The Royal Court confirmed that King Salman left King Faisal Specialist Hospital the same day he was admitted, following routine examinations. The update was shared through state media after news of his hospitalization earlier in the day.

Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest crude oil exporter, has long faced speculation regarding the king’s health. King Salman has ruled since 2015, while his son, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, appointed in 2017, currently serves as the kingdom’s de facto leader.
In 2024, the Royal Court said he suffered from lung infections, which he recovered from.
He was hospitalized in May 2022, when he went in for a colonoscopy and stayed for just over a week for other tests and “some time to rest”, the official Saudi Press Agency reported at the time.
He was also admitted to hospital in March 2022 to undergo what state media described as “successful medical tests” and to change the battery of his pacemaker.
