Apple Leads as Global Smartphone Shipments Grow in 2025

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Global smartphone shipments increased by 2% year-on-year in 2025, driven largely by improving economic conditions and rising demand in emerging markets, according to Counterpoint Research.

Apple topped the market with a 20% share, benefiting from strong sales of its iPhone 17 series and growing demand in emerging and mid-tier markets. Samsung followed closely with a 19% market share, posting modest growth, while Xiaomi secured third place with a 13% share, supported by steady performance in developing regions.

Counterpoint noted that many manufacturers advanced shipments earlier in the year to mitigate potential tariff impacts, though this effect faded as the year progressed, leaving second-half volumes mostly stable. Looking ahead, analysts expect the global smartphone market to face headwinds in 2026 due to chip shortages and rising component costs, as semiconductor makers increasingly focus on supplying AI data centres rather than smartphones.
