Senior JUI Leader Maulana Hafiz Sultan Muhammad Haqqani Martyred in IED Attack in Lower Waziristan
Senior Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) leader Maulana Hafiz Sultan Muhammad Haqqani embraced martyrdom after succumbing to injuries sustained in an improvised explosive device (IED) attack carried out by foreign terrorists in Lower Waziristan.
According to details, the attack occurred in Wana when Maulana Hafiz Sultan Muhammad Haqqani was returning home from a madrassa. The IED blast critically injured him and also targeted his daughter. He was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana, where he was provided emergency medical treatment.
Due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later shifted to Dera Ismail Khan for advanced medical care. However, he could not survive his injuries and passed away during treatment.
Maulana Hafiz Sultan Muhammad Haqqani was a senior JUI leader in Lower Waziristan, a district representative of Wifaq-ul-Madaris al-Arabia, and the principal of Jamia Dar-ul-Uloom Ashrafia. His martyrdom has deeply saddened religious and political circles across the region.
JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman strongly condemned the attack, terming it a heinous act, and called for an immediate and transparent investigation. He urged authorities to arrest the perpetrators and ensure strict punishment under the law.
Funeral prayers of the martyred leader will be offered in his native village Ashraf Khel Maqbara, where religious scholars, party workers, and local residents are expected to attend and pay their last respects.
