Punjab Delegates CCD Authority to Combat Online Fraud
CCD Assigned to Crack Down on Online Fraud, Kidnapping Networks
LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government has delegated authority to the Counter Crime Department (CCD) to take strict action against individuals and organized groups involved in online and electronic fraud.
According to officials, this step comes in response to a sharp rise in incidents where citizens, including salaried individuals, business owners, and beneficiaries of the Benazir Income Support Programme, have fallen victim to online scams, losing their lifetime savings.
These criminal groups are also involved in short-term kidnappings for ransom, but many cases previously went unregistered. The CCD has been tasked with robust action against such offenders, including legal proceedings to confiscate assets accumulated through fraudulent activities.
